When searching for new locations, it is our intention to integrate harmoniously into the social and urban fabric of a place and create something of value, rather than imposing our presence. We consistently draw on locally relevant design vocabulary. In 2004, Aesop welcomed its first customers in a basement corner in Melbourne's beachside St. Kilda district. This space – once a narrow driveway to an underground car park – set standards for our later architectural ambitions. When searching for new locations, we focus on working with existing structures. We act thoughtfully, with respect for the past, present, and future.
